Matt Olson Tops 4 Monday DFS Targets Who Would Anchor Fantasy Baseball Lineups (May 4, 2026)

Monday’s slate in fantasy baseball is particularly loaded with 12 games on tap. Here are some of our top fantasy recommendations for DFS contests, including a stack to group, a hitter to anchor your lineups, a pitcher to consider as a low-cost option and a hurler to fade.

Why You Should Stack the Cubs Against the Reds in Monday’s Fantasy Baseball Slate

The Cubs are one of the best offenses in the National League this season, as they rank near the top of almost every collective category, including runs scored (2nd, 185), batting average (4th, .261), on-base percentage (1st, .353), OPS (5th, .783), and home runs (4th, 44). It’s easy to understand why they’re considered a solid stack for Monday’s slate since they’ll be facing Chase Petty and the Reds.

Several Cubs players are worthy of adding in a potential stack. The list is headlined by Moises Ballesteros, who has a .415 OBP and 1.122 OPS across his last 22 outings. The Cubs also have two players who have been trending in the right direction lately in Pete Crow-Armstrong (.781 OPS over his last 15 games) and Michael Busch (.298 average and 14 RBIs in his last 12 games).

There’s also Nico Hoerner (career-best .841 OPS) and Ian Happ (8 homers, .893 OPS in 2026). Start the Cubs lineup with confidence on Monday.

Why You Should Anchor Your DFS Lineups With Braves First Baseman Matt Olson

The Braves could also be a solid stack alternative for Monday’s slate, as they’ve also been one of the best offenses in the majors. However, if you choose to stack the Cubs (or any other team), or if you’re simply looking to mix-and-match, one Atlanta hitter you can’t overlook is Matt Olson.

The star first baseman has been a dangerous hitter all season long, and he should have a favorable matchup against Logan Gilbert since he has a strong .884 OPS against him despite a subpar .214 average. Strong matchup aside, it’s worth noting that Olson is seeing the ball extremely well of late as he has hits in 11 of his last 12 appearances, slashing .372/.440/.837 with a 1.277 OPS, 5 homers, 12 RBIs, and 13 runs scored over that stretch.

You’d be making an excellent choice by anchoring your DFS lineups with Olson, even if he carries a relatively expensive price tag.

Why Davis Martin Is an Excellent Fantasy Baseball Pitcher to Play on Monday

Regardless of whether you’re playing in a season-long format or a DFS contest, you should definitely include Davis Martin in your rotation if you have the chance to do so. He continues to pitch at a very high level, and even though he’s going to regress at some point, it’s hard to bench him right now.

Martin has an excellent matchup on tap against a struggling Angels lineup that might rank in the middle of the pack in collective OPS (.712), but also has struck out the most of any team in the majors (347). The potential is there for Martin to make a strong impact in fantasy once again this Monday.

Martin already faced the Angels earlier this season and thrived, posting 5.2 innings of 1-run ball on 7 hits and 1 walk with 7 strikeouts on April 28. On the season, Martin has gone 4-1 with a 1.95 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 37 innings and 6 starts this season, so he’s easily one of the top streaming options every time he’s slated to take the mound.

Why You Should Avoid Starting Phillies Pitcher Aaron Nola on Monday

It’s easy to get confused in a 12-game slate and target “big-name” pitchers just because they bring a sense of familiarity. However, don’t make that mistake with Aaron Nola.

The veteran hurler has struggled badly with the Phillies this season, and while the matchup against the Marlins might look decent on paper, Nola hasn’t shown enough to believe he’s a viable option in most formats. Nola has failed to pitch 5 complete innings in his last 2 starts while giving up 11 runs in just 9 frames in that span.

His ERA is up to 6.03 through 6 starts (31.1 innings) with a 1.56 WHIP and 35:13 K:BB. Even if you have to dig deeper into the wire, there are better options out there than Nola.
